Keika Kiyotaki (清滝 桂香(きよたき けいか), Kiyotaki Keika) is a main character of the series. She is the daughter of Kousuke Kiyotaki and the shogi sibling of Yaichi Kuzuryuu and Ginko Sora.

Keika is a beautiful young women of average height with slightly curly hip-length light-brown hair that is tied in a low ponytail by a orange hairband where there is a braid in the back of her head with chest-length hair strands going on either side while she appears to have light-green tips at the end of her hair and emerald-green eyes.

She is seen wearing her occasional suit.

History

Keika is the sole daughter of 9-dan Kousuke Kiyotaki who has managed to challenge the Meijin twice in the ranking battle. Losing her mother when she was little, Keika lived alone with her father before he took Yaichi Kuzuryuu and Ginko Sora as disciples. Keika has earned the place of being the household’s older sister, treating Yaichi and Ginko as if they were her own siblings and often brushing off Yaichi’s advances on her. Keika isn’t as bright as the two in regards to shogi. In fact, she didn’t even like shogi at first. While she was taught by her father when she was a child, she ended up hating shogi and stopped playing. She returned to shogi on her third year of high school, officially becoming Yaichi and Ginko’s younger sister disciple. Despite her attempt to become a female pro, she has been suffering from the failure to achieve a promotion into class C1 in the Research Group as the age limit approaches. It’s hardly a pleasant situation since her shogi siblings are far ahead of her then came the genius disciples of Yaichi which makes feel more down.

Etymology

• The name Keika means "Japanese Judas-tree, cinnamon tree" (桂) (kei) and "fragrance, fragrant" (香) (ka).
• Keika's surname Kiyotaki means "clear, pure, clean" (清) (kiyo) and "waterfall" (滝) (taki).

Trivia

• Keika seems to have an interest in Yaichi Kuzuryuu.
